I Got Fired During a Mental Health Crisis, & Then My Medication Was Put on Hold. I'll Be Homeless!

My Story:

I am a 36-year-old single woman living in Kansas. I have a degree in Anthropology and enjoy making all kinds of art.

Sadly, I was diagnosed with Treatment Resistant Depression, CPTSD, and ADHD, and I struggle to maintain employment because of it. I was fired during a mental health crisis after helping my boss build up the entire business. Then, he claimed that I walked out willingly and didn't pay any unemployment. I could not find a new job for 6 weeks and have struggled to keep everything paid ever since. After this happened, my health insurance company decided to cancel my medication over a technicality, and this led to a state insurance department investigation to get my medication back. It took 6 months for my medication to get prescribed to me again, and the withdrawal from having it stopped cold turkey made me completely fall apart during this time. I lost my job, friends, and relationships with family members because of this mental crisis. Unbelievably, my luck got worse. I was able to secure an internship position, but I had to wait several months for a start date. Then, right before my first day of employment, the company cut that department entirely, leaving me with no job. Although I have finally established employment again, I cannot keep up with all my monthly bills after this, let alone my medical bills. Rent takes most of my pay, so I am always scrambling to come up with the money for my electricity, water, and medical bills. I'm worried now about homelessness, as I can no longer neglect these other bills, and I know my mental health would be ruined if that happened.

I am asking for this one-time assistance with my rent. This act of kindness would keep me from becoming homeless and allow me to have a stable, safe place to continue my healing journey. I have no contact with my family and have no other resources available to me. This help will keep me safe and moving in the right direction as I recover from months of chaos.
