Tennessee's Climate is Wrecking Havoc on Our Health, & We Can't Afford the Move Home to Michigan!
My Story:
My husband and I are both in our mid 50's and live in Tennessee. Our health has gone downhill since moving to Tennessee due to the wet, humid climate. I have acquired many new illnesses that prevent me from working outside the home. Overcrowding and the drastic housing cost increases has combined with our health and made us desperate to return to our home state of Michigan. My 80-year-old father lives there, and we would have better opportunities if we lived with him.
Here, we had to sell my husband's vehicle just to stay afloat, and if my husband were to lose his job, we undoubtedly would become homeless. We worry in general about my father living alone in Michigan and hate the thought of not being able to afford a trip there in an emergency. We live in constant fear of our rent being raised which would cause us to no longer be able to afford this house. Although, I'm not so sure that would be a bad thing, as we are living with 100-year-old leaking windows, sinking floors, and rats in our stove. We know if we mention it to our landlord, he will increase our rent and not even fix the issues. We desperately want to return home, so we can escape the wetness and humidity that is wreaking havoc on our bodies. We are trying to save money, but with the cost of living here outside of Knoxville, we are only able to save a couple dollars a week. We just barely survive and have no room for a huge expense such as a cross-state move. My husband's company doesn't even give him sick days, so if he's ill, he takes a cut in his check. Getting ourselves back on our feet is all we want at this point.
This help with the bill for a moving truck would be a dream come true. We could relocate to my dad's without any problems and start improving our lives immediately. We can live in an environment conducive to our health and ensure we are there should my father have a medical emergency. We can secure better jobs there, as we have a more robust network of family and friends that would welcome us with open arms. Thank you so much for your help in ensuring we can travel there safely.
