I'm a Grandma of 14 Awesome Kids & Have Stage 4 Cancer. I Lost Work for Treatment & Can't Pay Rent!
My Story:
I am a single woman and mother of four beautiful adult children. I have 14 grandchildren and enjoy being the super grandma!
I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2022, but I have not let the diagnosis stop me one bit. I've realized just how short life is, so I mostly spend my time with family. I have worked for 15 years as a correctional officer at a juvenile detention center, and I really love my job. Sadly, due to my disability, I just am not able to handle being too involved with the kids at my work anymore. I was off for a year and a half receiving chemotherapy and radiation every 3 weeks, and the symptoms kept me from working in between sessions. I didn't have enough FMLA time to cover me, so I have effectively had no income.
I'm requesting this help with my rent, so I can continue paying my doctor's bills and receiving treatment. It is one or the other right now for me, and it is an impossible decision. This act of kindness will get me in good standing with my landlord and permit me to pay my other bills, as I am working now. You will have a long-lasting impact on my household. Thank you.
