I'm Fighting Cancer & Was Fired for Taking 2 Days Sick Leave. Now, My Girl & I Will Lose Our Home!

My Story:

I am a single mother who is fighting stomach cancer. I have a 17-year-old daughter who has diabetes and suffers with depression; sometimes she has more bad days than I do. Sometimes I must pick her up from school early because her blood pressure will not go back down to normal. I work as a CAN, and it has been very hard for me to do my job since my diagnosis because I am in pain pretty much every day. There is no medication for me to take, so I just must wait it out most of the time. Sometimes the pain lasts a few minutes, but it has lasted as long as a couple of days. Last time that happened, I lost my job.

I was reaching my first 60 days of employment when I got sent home due to unbearable pain in my stomach, and when I was out of work for pain the following two days, they just fired me. I was not able to pay my car note after losing my source of income, so I fell behind on the payments and lost my car. Without a vehicle or job, I was very limited on what I could do to try to make income. I had no choice but to purchase a new vehicle, so I could use it to either work or get to work. However, it took me months to secure a new job, and now, my daughter and I may end up in a shelter while I battle cancer.

I'm humbly requesting assistance with our rent, so my daughter and I do not face eviction. I have just started a new job, but it is too late now. I will not get paid in time to get current with my landlord, so we will have to deal with packing up and trying to find a place to stay. This generous assistance will give me time to save money for next month's expenses. I will be able to continue my treatment and work further with my doctors on managing my symptoms. I really do not know where we would end up because I have very little family, and if we leave, my daughter will no longer be on the bus line for her school, so there will be no way to get her there. Your help will be an unforgettable gift that helps push us through my diagnosis. My daughter can continue her battle against depression and not have to go through something as awful as homelessness at her age. Thank you so much for everything.
