My Son Had a Brain Tumor Removed, & Now I Have Cancer. We'll Lose Our Car & Miss Our Appointments!
My Story:
I am a married mother of 6. My husband works in the HVAC field while I remain at home caring for the kids. We have 4 biological children and two adopted siblings. Our oldest 2 children have grown up already, and we are expecting our first grandchild in October! We are so excited.
Our 3rd child has struggled with health issues since he was 7 years old, and in July last year, he became very sick. His doctors discovered a large brain tumor, and it was cancerous. We were beyond devastated, as you might imagine. Thankfully, the doctors were able to operate on it, and it was removed. However, my son suffered significant brain damage from the removal, so he has even more appointments now than before. Then, during my routine checkup recently, I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. My husband has been my rock through this, but honestly, it just feels like a nightmare. My husband has had to miss work several times to navigate getting my son and I to our appointments. We have so many medical bills that paying regular bills is getting harder and harder. Our insurance deductible is pretty high, and we still have not reached it. Despite receiving a discount from the hospital, our balance steep, and they denied my request for spaced-out, smaller monthly payments. My son's teeth were damaged from his cancer and hundreds of seizures, so we are paying out of pocket to try and save his teeth as well.
We would be so grateful to have help with utilities and car note payments. This would free us up to cover our mortgage. I will be having a bone marrow transplant soon, and I do not want to risk losing our home while battling for my life. Our house is the most important thing that we need right now, and getting help with these payments would mean we could save it. I will need to isolate for 100 days after coming home, which will not be possible if we lose the house. This help with our car note will also ensure I can get us to and from our appointments. I will not be forced to choose between keeping our car or home, and our power will all remain on. Your help will be an unforgettable gift that will give my family the best chance for a healthy future. We will be current again and have a head start at managing all our bills going forward.
