I'm a Grandma With Stage 3 Cancer, & I'm Raising My Grandson. I'm on Leave & Can't Pay My Gas Bill!
My Story:
I am a single, divorced woman raising my grandson alone. My grandson loves dancing; he is currently taking a hip hop class, and I love watching him move! I work at a power company full-time.
Sadly, I was diagnosed with stage three rectal cancer a few months ago. I am on short-term disability leave at my job, so I can undergo treatment. Every paycheck I get is now only a percentage of what I would get before, and it has not even been enough so far for me to pay my mortgage this month. I've been forced to put things on the back burner while I care for my health, and I am worried about what could happen to my home and utility services. I was able to submit a medical certificate to my gas company, which will allow my service to stay on for another 30 days, but I need to find a way to pay this bill.
I am asking for help with my utility bill, so I do not have to lose my power in the middle of treatment. All my paychecks have gone toward my mortgage payment, so I do not risk becoming homeless with my little dancer. This help would be a real lifesaver. I will be able to remain healthy and comfortable in my house until I return to work, and I can focus on beating cancer. Thank you for anything you can give to my grandson and I.
