I'm an Opera Singer in NYC & Couldn't Perform After a Freak Accident; Now, I Could Lose My Home!
My Story:
I am a professional opera singer living in New York City, but I'm originally from Minnesota. I have been singing since I was a little girl, and I moved to New York to pursue my dream after graduating from college.
In October, I had a freak accident that caused me to break my leg and rupture my ankle. I was getting ready to go to my costume fitting and was scheduled to fly to DC for a performance. My whole life changed in that instant, and I was unable to work or perform onstage for over 5 months. This, as you can imagine, has been an extremely difficult and emotional time for me. I have had a really hard time paying my rent during this time and am slowly catching up on payments. I have been able to return to the stage very minimally, but I fear that the little income I am making now will not be enough to catch up in time.
I am asking for Modest Needs' to pay one month of my rent; that would be more than enough help. I could get caught up with all my other bills and not be forced to leave the city behind. This act of kindness would give me the space to heal and keep singing; I would be forever grateful.
