My Husband Was Diagnosed With Two Cancers & Then Our Dog Tore His CCL. We Can't Pay Our Mortgage!
My Story:
My husband and I have been married for 36 years. We always pay our bills on time and never use credit cards. My husband receives retirement income, I receive social security disability income, and though things are tight, we manage to make ends meet.
In 2013, I became disabled and could no longer work, so we have relied on my husband's income to provide for our needs. Sadly, in 2021, was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and Hepatitis C, and could no longer work. After seeing several specialists, he recovered from hepatitis. However, the copays for all his appointments put us in a financial bind. Then, to make matters worse, he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer a year later which had only added to our medical debt, and this medical debt has made it difficult to manage our already fixed income.
Finally, though, we had to pay an emergency vet bill when our little dog tore his CCL chasing a squirrel. That bill, on top of our medical debt, has made it impossible for us to pay all of this month's bills, and we find ourselves having to choose between paying the mortgage and buying groceries.
We're asking for help to pay this month's mortgage payment so that we won't have to make this choice. Without that help, we're afraid that our financial situation will spiral out of control and that we'll be forced to sell our home, which is our only major investment. Your help would put us back on track financially and allow us to put our focus where it belongs - on my husband's recovery. Thank you so much for helping if you can.
