Testimonial

This person has left the following thank you note:

On behalf of my children and I, you have helped solve a crisis with grace and compassion. Your gift/donation has helped us meet our goal for this fundraising campaign. This multiplies your gift, which means your impact will help me uplift someone else and pay it forward. You went a step beyond today. Times are tough everywhere right now. Many people say they want to help others might have ignored the issue in front of them; fewer actually step up to do it. You instead chose to get involved and help us. Your generous donation provides so much security for us. With this donation, well be able to get all our things out of storage. None of our success would be possible without generous donors like you. We know you have a lot of choices when it comes to donating, and we are so grateful that you chose to donate to our cause. Thank you so much for being one of the few today and stepping up. None of our success would be possible without generous donors like you. Thank you again for your commitment and kindness.

My Kids & I Defeated Homelessness, but All Our Belongings Are Stuck in Our Storage Unit!

My Story:

I am a single mother of 2 teenagers one of whom is autistic. Over the last year, we have overcome a lot of obstacles. I was injured at my job the first day we moved into our new home. I did not get paid for 6 weeks while I recovered, so we were unable to pay rent. We were forced to move out right after we moved in, so we put our belongings in storage. We were homeless for 8 months living in hotels and Airbnbs. Now that I have finally moved into a place, I don't have the money to get our things out of storage.

It is cold out, my children need winter clothes, coats, medicine, and other supplies. My son with mental disabilities has decided to try out for basketball, and I am so excited! He needs his basketball goal to practice on, and it is stuck in storage. I think he will make friends at his new school by playing on the team. He has been getting bullied daily online and at school. I see this as being a great opportunity to help him build confidence. My daughter is doing brilliantly this year, but she left her medicine in storage on accident, and we can't even get that without having to pay. Unfortunately, she is not eligible for a lost or stolen refill through our pharmacy. Luckily, I now receive Short Term Disability from my employer, but since we just moved, I simply cannot afford an extra bill at this time. I had to come up with money to pay two months of rent and our utilities to move in, so the storage bill fell behind. They have added late fees, too. Because I paid one day late last month, they are now requiring I pay my whole balance before I can get access to my unit.

This act of kindness will help restore our housing situation and improve our lives drastically. This help would be greatly appreciated, and my family would be very grateful. We hope to pay it forward to help other families one day.
