This person has left the following thank you note:

I am overwhelmed with gratitude for every one of you. You choosing to help my little family positively impacts every part of our daily life. New mattresses means my boys will get the sleep they need and not wake up smelling horrible. All three of us are most excited to once again be able to lay in the same bed and read our nightly bedtime story. This is something we cherish but haven't been able to do in a long time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this gift that goes far beyond mattresses.

I Have 2 Kids, One of Which is Autistic. We Were Homeless, & Now I Can't Get Them Mattresses!

My Story:

I am a single mother who works all the time. My oldest son, Bentley, is 12. He has a huge heart, loves his family, and plays football on his middle school team. My 6-year-old, Sterling, is autistic. He loves EVERYTHING with wheels. Semitrucks, construction vehicles, and trains are his favorite.

In April of 2022, I gave birth to my third son, who I ultimately placed up for adoption. I made that choice because when I went on maternity leave, I lost all of my income. Not very long after, we ended up losing our home, car, and everything we owned since I could not pay for our storage unit anymore. For an entire year my sweet monsters and I were completely homeless. We slept in the car or tent where we could. While sleeping on a local beach, I was even bitten by a brown recluse spider.

Thankfully, in early February of this year, we were able to find an apartment to rent. The cost of rent is well over half of my monthly earned wages. That leaves next to nothing for the unexpected expenses that pop up. Recently, my childrens' bed frames broke, and we can't afford the repairs. Since Sterling's autistic, potty training is very difficult for him. We still have a lot of accidents and bedwetting issues. I have shampooed his mattress more times than I can count, however, recently, it's gotten to the point where shampooing doesn't work to take the smell or stains out. My 12-year-olds mattress was used when we got it. It is also to the point of desperately needing a new one. I'm confident I can obtain a bed frame or two. However, the mattresses seem to be a bit more difficult.

This one-time assistance to help my monsters get mattresses would mean that no longer have to sleep on something so smelly, uncomfortable, and dirty. I want them to get a good night of sleep; it would benefit their health, mood, and performance in school. We would be so grateful.
