This person has left the following thank you note:

I first want to extend a huge thanks to everyone involved in this process! Im overjoyed and extremely grateful with how quickly my application was funded! It means so much to me to know there are amazing people out there who sympathize with others and are willing to assist in time of need. As a public school teacher, I often feel that there is no hope as I am constantly struggling to maintain finances on my own. Modest Needs and all of its donors have helped to lift a financial burden during a very difficult time and I could not be more appreciative! This one time kindness will help me to move forward in the right direction and continue to provide my daughter and I with a safe place to live. I am so grateful to know that my story was taken into consideration by people with such kind and generous hearts.

I'm a Public School Teacher Who Struggled to Find Summer Work. Now I Am Facing Eviction!

My Story:

I am a dedicated and extremely passionate elementary school teacher and mother. I work in a low-income community with little resources and often find myself purchasing much-needed items and materials for my students. Although most of my students come from poverty and broken homes, they deserve someone who cares about them and their education, and this is why I go above and beyond to leave a positive impact on every child. My daughter, who is 8 years old, is extremely smart and creative! She blows me away with the things she can create with so little materials. My number 1 goal in life is to give her the very best.

Considering I have worked for the school board for the past 8 years and live in South Florida, I have been living paycheck to paycheck my entire career. I have always picked up tutoring jobs and worked on after school programs to make ends meet. Unfortunately, at times, I am only able to make it through by taking out a personal loan with high interest rates. This past summer was difficult for me because I was offered a summer position, but it was later rejected due to low enrollment in summer school. I had to accept a part time job which paid very little. This caused me to get behind on rent payment for August (and now September as well) which resulted in my landlord proceeding with an eviction that has now accrued attorney fees and late fees that I am responsible for.

I do not have family in South Florida. It is just me and my daughter. I fear that the eviction will cause us to be put out of our home with nowhere to go. I will not be able to keep my job and will be forced to relocate. I am asking for assistance to pay my landlord the rent that is owed to stop the eviction before it enters the final stages.

Now that I am working again and school is back in session, I will be able to sign a stipulation that will stop the eviction. I will be able to catch up with late rent payments and past due fees. I am also working on a tutoring schedule with some clients which will bring more money to help with upcoming payments. This one-time kindness would mean so much to my daughter and I.
