I'm Behind on Our Rent After Fleeing Domestic Violence & After Losing Hours at Work! Please Help Us!

My Story:

I'm a single mother, and I bear the responsibility of caring for my five children, ranging in ages from 7 to 22, as well as being a grandmother. While my adult children have moved on and started their own lives, I have two children, aged 16 and 7, who reside with me. I am currently employed as a service manager at an event/catering company, working full-time to provide for my family's needs.

We recently moved away from a domestic violence situation, where I gathered the strength and resources to escape the abusive environment. My children and I are relieved to be in a safer place, and we are looking forward to the opening of the pool in our new complex next month. It is my deepest desire to create a nurturing and flourishing environment for my children, where they can thrive and grow. While I can usually manage to cover our rent and monthly bills, it has been challenging to find the means to get by after fleeing abuse. Last month, my car broke down, and I was unable to work due to a stomach virus. As a result, my hours were reduced, leaving me with only 19 hours of work instead of the necessary 38 hours to maintain our financial stability. Despite my best efforts, I could only pay half of my rent, which amounts to $500 out of the total $1122. I find myself in need of assistance to catch up and avoid falling further behind.

At this time, I owe $622, and I am reaching out in the hopes of receiving support to cover this remaining balance. If I am unable to catch up soon, late fees will start to accumulate, placing me in a position where catching up would be nearly impossible. I am genuinely concerned about the consequences this may have on our housing stability and the well-being of my children. With that said, we will never forget the kind and generous people who come together to save our home.
