My Story:
I'm a married father, and together, my wife and I are caring for and supporting our two precious children and my 8-month-old granddaughter. We are fortunate to live near the ocean, where we find solace and joy in the beauty of the beach whenever possible. As a commercial fisherman, my employment is seasonal, and I rely on the opportunities presented by each fishing season to provide for my family. However, unforeseen circumstances have disrupted our financial stability. In preparation for the May inshore lobstering operation, a crucial period for my livelihood, I made the difficult decision to undergo radiation treatment for prostate cancer. Regrettably, this necessary medical intervention resulted in my absence during the month-long scalloping operation in April, impacting my income significantly.
Compounding our financial strain, my wife's income has also declined over the past year. The combination of reduced earnings and my limited work hours, with me only having four months of employment in the last twelve, has created a state of financial toxicity for our family. The weight of these challenges has made it increasingly difficult to make ends meet, leaving us vulnerable to unforeseen expenses.
At present, our immediate concern is with a pressing car repair bill. Our vehicle is essential to our livelihoods, and it requires urgent attention. Unfortunately, the financial burden we face has made it impossible for us to address this issue on our own. The repair costs represent a significant sum that we are unable to cover without assistance, so I'm very humbly asking for support with this bill. This act of kindness would keep us on track with the rest of our bills, as I'll be able to continue to work hard to provide for my family. Thank you in advance for this support.
