I'm a Public School Teacher Struggling to Cover Our Mortgage After Paying for New Tires!

My Story:

I am a divorced, single mother of a wonderful son. My son is very creative, loves music, and plays in a band. He's very talented, and I love hearing him play. As for myself, I work full-time as a teacher at a public middle school. Truly, I love the work that I do, and I really have a lot of passion for teaching.

Typically, I earn enough to keep up with all of our expenses, but as a teacher, I don't make much more than what we have to spend on basic expenses every month. I had a small amount of savings set aside when, in May of 2022, I had to have surgery done. At the time, I missed a lot of work, and I lost a lot of wages. I was able to recover in time for the Fall semester, but we were only able to survive using the small savings I had set aside. This made us very vulnerable to unexpected expenses, and sure enough, our family vehicle needed repairs shortly after I got back to work. It's our only means of transportation, and without it, I can't get to work, so I had to make the decision to sacrifice paying our mortgage this month in order to get the tires replaced.

Because I had to cover the cost of replacing my tires, we're behind on our mortgage now, and I don't have the means to get us out of the hole that we're in. I am now forced to choose between paying my mortgage, food, and my medical prescriptions. I am worried that I could eventually lose my home if I do not get back on track with my mortgage, so I'm very humbly asking for assistance with getting caught up. We would be so grateful for this support and the sense of stability that it gives us, and I promise that I will continue to work hard to be there for my students and pay the kindness we're shown forwards each and every day.
