The Autobody I Trusted with Simple Maintenance Ruined My car. I'm Trying to Hold Them Accountable!

My Story:

I am a single 26-year-old woman. I work two jobs to support myself; one is full-time where I am a supervisor working with folks who have intellectual disabilities, and my second job as a team leader at a local gym is part-time. In addition to the two jobs that I work, I'm also a student.

For years, I was happy to have a great car that helped me to commute back and forth to my job and to school. I always took good care of my vehicle, and so I had taken my vehicle to a nearby auto shop to have my regular maintenance done, such as getting the oil changed and air put into my tires. A few days later my car began to tap/knock, and I found out that the shop had broken my oil pan, resulting in all the oil leaking out of my vehicle. Ultimately, this cracked my engine, and all of that happened within a week of getting my car serviced. Normally, I would just suck it up and do what I could to get my car repaired, but the damage is extensive, and I'm frustrated because I shouldn't have to pay for the damage the repair shop caused to my vehicle. So I've decided to hire a lawyer that can take my case to small claims court so that I can have some relief from this situation. However, I'm also paying rent, a car note on a non-drivable car, utilities and other expenses that have made saving up for the attorney very challenging for me. With that said, I'm very humbly asking for assistance with affording an attorney so that I can hold the autobody accountable for what they did to my vehicle.

This whole situation has cost me enormously already. I've had to turn down promotions at work because I no longer have a car which has impacted me financially, and I'm also stuck making payments on a vehicle that I can't drive which is a total nightmare. I'm concerned about my long-term financial situation if I'm unable to hold the autobody accountable. This generous assistance would help me to get back to managing more houses at my job, getting to and from class and ultimately help me to live a happier more purposeful life. I would be deeply grateful for this support. Thank you.
