We're Struggling to Cover Medical Bills After My Husband Fell Down The Stairs! Please Help.
My Story:
I work as a biller for Jefferson Hospital, and I have worked in the healthcare industry for over 40 years. My husband was a bill collector before he became sick. We have two adult children that graduated college and are starting their careers. We are very proud of them, as we did not have the opportunity to go to college. I can also say that both my children are paying for their entire education themselves. To be honest, we weren't in a position to help them pay for their schooling, and while it makes us sad that we could not do this for them, we are still so proud because they did it.
As a family, we definitely live paycheck to paycheck, especially now that my husband is retired. I've tried to do everything that I can to stay afloat, and I've even had to dip into my retirement savings a few different times. I always budget very carefully, and I meal plan around sales at our grocery store, but we still live on a very tight budget. Truly, we've been living paycheck to paycheck since my husband stopped working. In March 2021, my husband was broadsided by an 18 wheeler, and he sustained very serious injuries as a result of the crash. He has really struggled to recover from the injuries he's sustained. Those injuries have given way to more injuries, as last year, he fell down the stairs in our home. He broke 11 ribs and has a severe head injury as a result. All of these medical issues have led to massive medical bills piling up, and we're in desperate need of assistance.
I'm very humbly asking for assistance with the medical bills that are all coming due very soon. We're already struggling to get by, and if we have to default on these medical bills, it could lead to my wages being garnished. Without assistance, I'm very afraid of the future my family faces. However, if we're able to get this very generous help with our medical bills, I know that we'll be able to keep pushing ahead. Thank you to everyone who lends us their support, and I promise that we will never forget the kindness we're shown.
