My Husband Was Laid-off While Taking Care Of Us When We Had COVID. We're Behind on Rent Now!
My Story:
I am married with five children, four of whom are currently still living with us. I have three boys and two girls. My oldest son is 22, and he's living on his own. In addition to him, we have a daughter that is 19, a son that is 17, and our other daughter is 12 years old, and my baby boy is 8 years old. They all have their own unique personalities, but we all work well together and are a happy family. I work for a cable company as a dispatcher, and I've done that for 6 years now. I love my job. My husband just started his security job about a week ago, and we're both very happy that he's back at work now.
After the pandemic it was hard getting back on our feet. My husband was furloughed during that time, and I was the only income in our household. In the middle of this year, my husband started working again, but me and my youngest son were hospitalized, which caused him to miss work for about a week. Then in August, my whole house caught COVID for the first time, and my husband had to miss work again. This time, instead of making accommodations or allowing him to go on unpaid leave, they wrongfully terminated him. We don't have the means to fight it, so we're just trying to get back on our feet again. This situation caused us to fall behind on our rent. I was able to cover food, electricity and other necessities, but I was not able to cover rent by myself, so we're facing an imminent eviction.
I'm very humbly asking for assistance with getting caught up on our rent so that we can remain in our home. For the first time in our lives, we are truly in danger of becoming homeless, and as a mother, that terrifies me. I don't know where my children will go if we lose our home, and truly our lives would never be the same. However, if we can get this very generous assistance, we'll be able to remain in our home. My husband just started working again, so we will be able to keep up with our expenses going forward. In the meantime, we would be deeply appreciative of this assistance.
