An Injury Kept Me From Operating My Small Business! Please Help Us Keep Our Home.

My Story:

I am a single father with a 10-year-old son. My son loves to read, play video games, and is very active. I work as a full-time courier delivering goods to consumer's homes, and I like what I do because I'm able to work for myself. This is a small business that I own, and it's fully registered with the state of North Carolina. I am very proud of the progress I've made, but to be honest that makes the situation I'm in feel even more dire.

I recently suffered a tear in my shoulder rotator cuff, which had me out of work and in physical therapy for four months. During this time, I was forced to live off my savings, and my credit cards. As a small business owner, I work entirely for myself and don't have any other means of earning an income. So, with no income coming in, I have gotten behind on a few bills. Most importantly, I'm behind on my rent for this month, and my apartment complex is threatening to evict us. I was able to pay all the way up to November, but I am not sure how I will pay for December. On top of that, I don't have anything leftover to cover our utility bills either, and I'm really worried that we're going to have our services shut-off as soon as the winter is over.

I operate one small box truck and did not have the experience or means to keep my business running while I was injured. Also, my commercial insurance for my truck is extremely high, which had a significant impact on my ability to stay afloat. I have a lot on the line, and I'm afraid that without help, I could lose my home, my small business, and most importantly, I could lose custody of my son. For years, I worked hard to build a life that I could be proud of, and this injury and the threat of losing my home and utility services is jeopardizing all of that. So, I'm very humbly asking for this assistance because it will preserve all of the hard work that I put in over the years to keep us self-sufficient. Thank you.
