After Having to Pay to Have Our Vehicles Towed, We Need Help Keeping Our Home Please!

My Story:

I am divorced and have three grown children; one has just been accepted to medical school, but the other two are struggling to find their paths in life. My current - and final! - husband and I are in a band together, the band that he founded long before I came along. We like to make music with messages that are also catchy so people will actually listen to them. I also love to write and enter writing contests very frequently. In fact, I am in the midst of writing the next 'Best Selling' series for tweens, provided I can quit procrastinating on it. Additionally, the hubs and I have a dog, Dahlia, who is 11 years old. I got her free from Craigslist when I decided to move from Ohio to Illinois, as I wanted a 'furry burglar alarm.' She has become so much more than that to me though, and my husband adores her as well! Lastly, we both work, though I'm currently working part-time, and my husband is a Job Developer while I'm a Virtual Assistant.

Some time ago, both of our cars were towed, due to our parking stickers expiring. We hadn't realized they expired, as our property management company never alerted us even though they kept charging us the monthly sticker fee. It ended up costing around $1000 to get them both from the tow-yard and have them towed back, as neither were running at the time of the towing, so they could not be driven back. The property management company refused to reimburse us or even give a credit on one month's rent, despite it being their fault. That put us over one month behind on rent, and it has now avalanched into several months' worth of debt, as we also had to take care of other things that fell behind when this situation occurred. As a result of all this, we are now facing eviction.

I am asking for assistance in getting caught up on the rent, as without it we could lose our home. If we don't get caught up, or put on a plan, we'll end up evicted. It will be harder to find a new place with an eviction on our regular and a dog, as not many people in Chicago will rent to pet owners. I also fear the stress from such proceedings would deal a bad blow to my ongoing recovery from breast cancer. My family would be deeply appreciative of this assistance, and I promise that we will find a way to repay the kindness we're shown when we're back on our feet again.
