This person has left the following thank you note:

Thank you for your generosity, compassion, and financial support, at a most difficult time! As a senior, facing imminent threat of homelessness, with a small social security check as my only form of income, I don't know how to thank you. It's times like these that I remember a scripture, Proverbs 3:5-6, which I'd like to share with you. It says, 'Trust in Jehovah with all your heart and do not lean upon your own understanding. In all your ways take notice of Him, and He Himself will make your paths straight.' It is my faith that has allowed me to rely on God, through prayer, throughout this unimaginable time. Even when there were times when I barely felt I had the strength to carry on, I trusted that He would not leave me destitute or homeless. And true to His word, I was referred to Modest Needs, and God worked through countless generous doners, to provide money to allow me to keep a roof over my head, as I continue to receive cancer treatments. You have won this 77-year-old heart and I pray that Jehovah God blesses each and every one of you, in your time of need. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

I Moved to Receive Cancer Treatment, but I Need Help Keeping My Home Please!

My Story:

I am a 77-year-old woman living on my own and battling with metastatic breast cancer, third stage kidney failure, asthma, COPD, and a host of other conditions. I am struggling financially as a result of these conditions, and with social security as my only form of income, it's difficult to cover all of the unexpected medical conditions that have emerged as of late. My monthly rent alone consumes the majority of my social security check, barely leaving enough for other needs like food, gas, and personal items. Additionally, I have a high car note and an increasing number of medical appointments have left me with a great deal of medical debt.

I moved to Georgia from Florida earlier this year to be able to receive ongoing treatment at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). Eventually, I got my own place but am already struggling and behind on rent as a result of my medical bills piling up. I am at risk of homelessness if I do not pay my past due rent. My monthly social security is not enough to continue sustaining my basic needs for much longer but having assistance with one full month of rent would be a blessing. It would allow me to keep my home, and it would free up more of my monthly income to go towards my cancer treatment.

While this support will not eliminate my medical debt, it will get me completely caught up on my rent, which would allow me to keep my home as I continue to receive cancer treatment. The past year has been filled with hardship, and it's been a pretty grueling struggle to be completely honest. There have been points where I didn't know how I was going to keep pushing ahead, but with this help, I'll have the means and the hope to continue to push forward. Thanks to everyone who comes together to save my home, I'll be able to remain in my home, and I'll be able to continue my fight against cancer.
