This person has left the following thank you note:

Thank you so much for your help! I honestly don't know what we would have done without you. I want you all to know that you have made a huge impact on my life and the lives of my nieces who are still young and have had a chance to see that there are good people in the world that look out for fellow humans in need. I hope that in the future I will be able to give back to the community just as you all have given me and my family. I can't express how much I appreciate this help and how much it means to me!

My Sister Missed Work Due to Injuries, & Now We're Facing Homelessness! Help Us Please!

My Story:

I am an uncle to two amazing kids, and I'm currently living with my sister to help support her, as she is a single mother and has a debilitating health condition called Von Willebrand disease. Amongst other symptoms, this causes her to have long recovery times for any injury. The oldest of her children is a very passionate member of their school's debate team and loves to fight for causes she believes in. Her youngest daughter is very talented in a variety of arts and crafts and has a beautiful singing voice.

We have been living paycheck to paycheck ever since the pandemic started, yet we have been hanging on and working hard to give the kids a better life than we ever got. Unfortunately, in July, I lost my job and was without income for almost two months. I applied for unemployment benefits, but I was denied and had to rely on loans to pay my part of the rent. Finally, after months of searching, I was able to find a job and started collecting a paycheck again. However, just as we were getting back on track, my sister broke her wrist and could not work for over a week, and even after she went back to work, she was only able to work for a few hours a week. On top of that, she worked her right hand so much more since her left hand was in a cast that she sprung her left wrist as well, causing her to lose more hours at work. Since then, we've fallen behind on our rent by about a month, and we need help before we're evicted.

I tried to keep up by starting a second part time job, but it wasn't enough, and I was unable to pay October's rent charge on my own. Now, we are facing eviction if we don't pay the past due rent soon, so I'm humbly asking for assistance with catching up on that. If we're able to get assistance with our past due rent, we'll be able to avoid falling into a cycle where we're constantly a month behind. This act of generosity would save our home, and it will leave a lasting impression on the kids as they will see firsthand what a caring community can do when they work together!
