This person has left the following thank you note:

User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeNo matter how many times you hear words of appreciation, do not let the volume dilute your level of generosity. Your benevolence has truly helped relieve our concern. The entity we have to work with on a monthly basis to finance our home, is a gigantic agency, with little interpersonal skills. Your good deeds and the Modest Means Program was the shing light. It is very appreciated.

We're Veterans, but After Getting Sick, We Need Help Keeping Up with Our Mortgage Please!

My Story:

I am a single mother of one daughter, and I share custody of her with her father. I am a veteran who served one tour in Iraq, and I have diminished hearing as a result of my service. I was a full-time home healthcare provider to an elderly woman. The woman that I worked for, for over two years, recently passed away. As a result, I've had to try to find a new client in order to bring my hours up to full-time. Additionally, I tested positive for COVID, so I can't work at my other client's house or seek new work for the time being. My fiance is also a veteran and uses a wheelchair for mobility. He has not been employed since his injury.

I am still recovering from COVID, and it's taking a lot longer than expected. I am not sure when they will let me return to work. On top of not being able to work, the price of everything in our state has skyrocketed. Oregon has the third highest gasoline prices in the country, and those rising gas prices, combined with the rising cost of everything else, leaves little room for emergencies. On top of everything else, our grocery bill has gone up because I was diagnosed with Celiac's disease and have to eat a gluten-free diet.

As a result of these mounting expenses and the time that I've had to take off of work while sick, we're behind on our mortgage. I've tried to communicate with our lender, but our mortgage is financed through the USDA, and they're not very responsive or intrapersonal because they're a huge government agency. Once I get healthy and find a new client, I'll be able to get us back on track, but I'm afraid we'll lose our home before that happens. So, we would appreciate any assistance we receive when it comes to our mortgage, and I promise that we will find a way to pay it forward to another family who are struggling.
