My Wife & I Are Struggling with Dementia & Cancer, Respectively, & We Need Help Please!
My Story:
I'm a married man, and my loving wife and I have three children together. They've all grown up and between the three of them, we have seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and even two great great grandchildren! My wife and I are both retired, and our children are a huge part of our lives, as we spend a lot of time with them. They take great care of me and my husband, and we're very grateful for them and the assistance that they give us.
In 2018, I was diagnosed with Lymphoma, and that has partly led to our current financial difficulties. There are a lot of aspects of my treatment that fell outside of our insurance coverage, and that caused us to incur a lot of unexpected medical debt. Then, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2021, and we've struggled to treat that as well. Worst of all though, my wife has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Dementia, and her condition is worsening by the day. With the added expenses of both of our medical bills, we're struggling to get by on our fixed income, and we need help before we collapse completely.
Right now, we're struggling to cover the bill that we received after a recent trip to the hospital. The bill for the ambulance ride is only partially covered by our insurance, and I'm worried that the debt will be sent to collections very soon if we can't cover it, so I'm humbly asking for help with that. My biggest fear is that we won't be able to get access to the care that we need if we can't afford to cover this medical debt. My wife and I have applied for assistance through Medicare and have applied for food stamps. We're hoping that those two applications are approved, as it would greatly reduce the strain on our monthly budget; however, until then, we would be very grateful to receive this assistance with this major medical expense. With this help, my wife and I can continue to receive the care that we need, and for that, we would be eternally thankful.
