User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeI would like to thank you so much for donating! This is such a tremendous burden off of me and it means so much. If I am being honest, when I applied for help I had little hope that I would actually be funded. I felt like it was a shot in the dark and I am amazed and beyond grateful for you! I appreciate you so much!

An Unexpected Medical Issue Left Me With a Large Bill! Please Help Me Before It Goes to Collections!

My Story:

I am a 21-year old college student studying full-time at Hollins University in Virginia. I am in my senior year and will be graduating with a bachelor's degree in Public Health and Psychology. While attending school, I also work remotely and part-time for a company in New York that helps non-profits find funding. In my free time, I love playing with and training my dog, Bug. I am originally from Florida, where my single mother still resides. She only has a high school education and does not make very much money by working as an accounts payable clerk, so due to her financial situation, she is unable to financially support me in any way while I work through school.

I work part-time, but I earn enough to afford the essentials: monthly heartworm medicine for my dog, my monthly doctor appointments, prescription medication, and student loan repayment. However, I am not able to afford my medical bill from my visit to the emergency room since I am uninsured. Over the summer, I had both a sinus infection and ear infection for a few weeks, but I started to experience stomach pain too. I had previously gone to a nonprofit, mobile health clinic for my ear and sinus pain. Then, my stomach pain increased to the point where it hurt so severely that it was difficult to move at all, and I needed to go to the emergency room. I received care, but now I am left with a hospital bill I cannot afford to pay.

I do not have health insurance, so I have to pay for this bill out of pocket, and I'm worried that my bill will be sent to a collection agency. If that happens, my credit will be ruined before I even have the chance to start building it. I'm very humbly asking for assistance with this medical bill because it will save my credit, allow me to live free of debt, and it will allow me to continue to receive care in the future if I need it. I would be very grateful for this assistance, and I promise that I will find a way to pay it forward in the near future.
