This person has left the following thank you note:
It is with tears in my eyes and joy in my heart that I write to you all today. I am truly thankful for everyone who contributed to help me and my family during this trying time in our lives. Cancer has a way of breaking you down to your lowest, physically, emotionally, mentally and financially. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I had no idea of where this journey would lead me. It has been a long and tiring journey indeed. This gives me HOPE! Hope in knowing there are still good people in this world, like you all. Also, Hope that I can conquer this disease and live a long and fulfilling life. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. With every ounce of my being, I am so grateful for your generosity. Yes, the bills will keep coming, that won't stop. However, this feeling of gratitude that I hold deep within will also keep my spirits lifted and a feeling inside that everything will be OK. From myself and my family, THANK YOU again and again to Modest Needs and everyone that donated to help us.

My Story:
I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. Due to the nature of my cancer, my doctor started me on chemotherapy within 4 weeks of my diagnosis, not leaving any time to plan or save for any upcoming expenses. At the time, I was taking care of all the household expenses alone. I have three children in school, one in college, in addition to a daughter with a two year old child at home. Unexpected bills started rolling in and before I knew it, I was two months behind with my mortgage. My mortgage company's only assistance was to offer to refinance my loan at a higher interest rate which would increase my monthly bill over $400, which is not an option for us. Sadly, we are in a hole we cannot climb out of without some help. As if the diagnosis, chemo treatments, and medical expenses aren't enough, the stress and worrying about keeping a roof over your head adds to the constant anxiety my family deals with.
I have three more chemo treatments before my mastectomy. After recovery, I will be returning to my full-time job as a schoolteacher. This is a short-term financial situation that has the potential to be a long-term hardship for my family if we can't catch up on our bills. Like most schoolteachers, I live paycheck to paycheck already, so any and all unexpected expenses become a huge setback.
Right now, we're really struggling to cover our car payments due to the time that I had to take off of work and due to the medical bills that we've had to cover. I'm worried that we're going to lose our only means of transportation if we can't catch up on our car payment very soon. Cancer has completely altered my life and my family's lives as well. I try to smile through the tears, but it's been so difficult to do that lately. However, with this assistance, I'll be able to put a smile on my face again, and I'll be able to see my family through this hardship. For that, I would be eternally grateful, and I promise to repay the compassion and kindness we're shown I the very near future.
