I'm Battling a Rare Form of Ultra-Resistant Brain Cancer. Please Help Us Keep Our Home as I Recover!

My Story:

I am a 27-year-old wife and mom. I have been married to my husband, Samson, for 4 years. Samson is from West Africa. I grew up in a small town in the Midwest Ohio as the fifth child in a large family. I became a Christian at the age 5 and decided I wanted to be a nurse and travel the world when I grow up. I had a strong passion to help others and volunteered as a child, teenage, and adult, serving children, the elderly, disabled and needy in the community as an after-school volunteer, home health/library aide, tutor, and youth volunteer in church. As a child, the Lord began to work on my heart, giving me a compassion for those in need. This influenced my dream to travel the world and show compassion to those in need. At age 17, I had the opportunity to participate in a cross-cultural internship in Papua New Guinea through New Tribes Missions. Here, I had the opportunity to grow in my cultural skills and learn another language. I also learned the customs of another culture, and during this time, decided to commit to long-term missions.

During my travels, when I was just 12 years old, I began to feel ill after being bitten by a tick, and later I learned that I had contracted Lyme disease. Although my symptoms ranged from mild to moderate at first, my headaches did not become severe until college when I was studying hard to become a nurse. I took a break from nursing school and moved back home with my parents. Despite almost daily headaches, my MRI was clear at this time. I proceeded to get treatments for the Lyme disease, but the headaches never really went away. Then, in 2020, my doctor called me in for an emergency visit and informed me that they had discovered a brain tumor. At first, the tumor receded when I began treatment, but since then, it has grown back and resisted treatments. My condition has worsened, our medical bills have increased, and my husband has had to take time off work to care for me on days where my condition is really poor. As a result, we've fallen behind on our rent and are in desperate need of assistance.

Being able to keep our home as I undergo treatment is our primary concern right now. With that said we feel very grateful for this assistance. We are praying that I make a full recovery, but until then we would be very grateful to everyone who helps us keep our home.
