COVID Kept Me Out of Work on Unpaid Leave. Now I Need Help Keeping Our Lights on Please!

My Story:

I am a single mom of three children. My oldest son is 11 years old, loves basketball, and he plays the piano exceptionally well too. My oldest daughter is 10 years old and is creative like her brother. She wants to be a actress when she grows up and loves performing more than anything. Last but not least, my youngest daughter is 5 years old and just started kindergarten. So far, she loves her school, and I couldn't be more relieved for that! When I'm not working and we get the time to, we all like to sit on the couch and watch scary movies together.

For most of the pandemic, we were able to manage our situation pretty well. I was able to keep working, and while we do live paycheck to paycheck, I was able to provide for my kids pretty comfortably. However, COVID hit my family late, and I got very sick with it a few months ago. In fact, I became so ill, and my immune system had such a poor response that I had to be put on antibiotics and steroids in order to avoid serious infections. By the time I was fully recovered, I had been out of work for a while, and for most of that time, I was on unpaid leave. As a result, I fell behind on a lot of our bills, and I've struggled to catch up over the last few months. We're still behind on our electric bill, and I'm seeking assistance with catching up on that before our power is disconnected.

If we're able to get caught up on our electric bill, it will give me the stability and room to get caught up with our other bills. After months of trying to catch-up, we would finally be in a better position, and for that, I would be very grateful. Most of all though, this act of kindness would serve as a wonderful example to my children. I want them to know that there are kind and caring people in this world and that they should always strive to be generous and kind to others.
