My Schizophrenic Mother Set My House on Fire & the Stress Caused a Pulmonary Embolism. Please Help!
My Story:
I'm a single woman, and I'm caring for my mother who struggles with schizophrenia. I'm her only child, so the responsibility of caring for her falls entirely on me, and while that can be difficult to say the least, I know that I have to be there for her. In addition to caring for her, I own and operate my own business, and I currently have a team of six people working for me. I really love my employees and the work that I do.
The source of my hardship is primarily my mother's battle with her schizophrenia, as well as some medical issues I've been dealing with. Since 2019, I have been financially responsible for my mother and activated my power of attorney status. This had been manageable until April of 2019 when my mother set my house on fire. Since then, I've been struggling financially and have been trying to rebuild both of our lives. I was making great strides in that regard until July of 2021 when I was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. I thought I beat that when I was given a clean bill of health in December of 2021. However, in April of 2022, I was diagnosed with bilateral pulmonary embolism. As result, I'm being overwhelmed by medical bills, and I desperately need help covering those before they're sent to collections.
This assistance will prevent me from going into another collections battle. I'm already fighting with my bank over a closed account, and I have to prepare to settle with them in October. Help with this medical bill would stave off bankruptcy and give me room to breathe, so I can create a solid foundation for myself again. Once I am able to do that, I can refocus on growing my business again and providing for my mother. Thank you all in advance for your kindness and generosity, and I promise to work hard to pay this forward when I'm able.
