This person has left the following thank you note:
I'm so humbled in this moment. It's hard asking for help when you've been the provider and the nurturer most of your adult life. I almost gave up, I honestly didn't think anyone would help me. But here I am crying my eyes out as I type this note to you, my donor, someone that doesn't know me but cares enough to help me. From the deepest part of my heart, thank you. It's so hard to prepare when you're stuck in a cycle of trying to survive, especially after losing a loved one which just puts us in a mental fog while everything around us just keeps moving like normal, everyday feels like a fight to survive through basic tasks. I don't know why you chose me, but whatever the reason, I need you to understand that I really appreciate your help and it's my mission in life to help other people the same way you've just helped me, especially people who's on the verge of losing their homes. I'm doing my absolute best to rebuild and your gift is going to help me get there faster than I thought. Again...from the bottom of my heart, thank you! And I promise to pay it forward when I'm back on my feet. God bless you. Toya Felton
I'm Rebuilding After Losing My Husband & My Job. Please Help Me Keep My Home!
My Story:
I'm widowed and live alone after my husband died of heart failure in 2019. I've worked hard to take care of myself since then. However, I was furloughed during COVID and collected unemployment for a while, but after unemployment ended, the company I work for wasn't ready for employees to return, so I started my search elsewhere. I finally found employment but being hired came after my bills had already stacked up to an unmanageable point. Now, I'm in danger of losing my home, and I need help to get back on track.
When I began searching for a new job, it took a lot longer than I expected to find a new position. I submitted over 100 job applications and had dozens of interviews before I was finally hired. Thankfully, I'm falling in love with the company that I work for now, and I genuinely hope to retire here when it's all said and done. Now that I'm working again, I can keep up with all of my bills, but I can't catch up on what I owe in terms of my rent. So, I'm seeking one-time assistance with my rent so that I can catch up, keep my home, and focus on my job and remaining self-sufficient.
The apartments I live in are under new management and my rent increased 30%. Paying the rent hike threw everything off balance very quickly, and on top of that, my job is based out of my home. With that in mind, losing my home would be catastrophic because I would also be out of a job. After all that I've lost, if I lose my home and my job, I don't know how I'll rebound from that. How do you start over with nothing? I'm not rich, but my home is my palace, my refuge, and now, it's my office; truly, it's all I need. So, I would be deeply grateful to everyone who lends me a hand with catching up on my rent. Thank you for taking the time to consider my story, and I promise that I will never forget the help that I receive for years to come.
