After Having Skin Cancer Four Times, I Need to Get a Checkup but Can't Afford It!
My Story:
I am a widowed mother of two beautiful daughters who are the absolute light of my life! I work full time as a Geographic Information Systems Technologist creating meaningful maps, and I'm extremely proud to officially be a woman in tech. In fact, in order to pursue this job, I recently made a long distance move. While that was difficult, I'm so happy with my job and with this opportunity. I'm also very grateful for my two Bernese Mountain dogs who keep me feeling incredibly loved and entertained!
Over the course of a couple of years, I have had cancerous cells found on my skin four times. Now, I have to go every six months to get checked up on, and I only recently secured health insurance through my job. Even with the health insurance covering some of the bill, it's still difficult for me to afford every time I have to go get checked. I need to get checked again soon, but between moving expenses, gas prices, and securing housing with first, last, and the security deposit it's going to be very difficult for me to cover this much-needed medical expense. On top of that, I have another dental procedure that I need to have done as well, and that's also not in the budget
With my history of skin cancer, skipping a checkup appointment feels extremely dangerous. I also desperately need this dental procedure because it will cause long-term problems if don't get the work done soon. However, without help, I just can't afford the expense of going to get checked up on if it means losing our home, our vehicle, or our utility services. So, I'm very humbly asking for assistance with the medical bill and the dental procedure so that I can get the checkup that I need to monitor for skin cancer and the dental work done as well. If I'm able to receive this assistance, it will allow me to remain healthy so that I can continue to provide for my family. On top of that, I can't stress how important this would be in terms of just getting my family on more stable footing financially. It would be so much easier to manage our bills without this expense looming over us. Truly, thank you to everyone who reads this for considering us for this assistance, and I certainly believe in paying it forward.
