This person has left the following thank you note:
I am very sincerely grateful to the donors who have helped me through this struggle in my life. I am a single mom without any family members except for my son and I get discouraged sometimes and it is very encouraging to know that there are complete strangers that are willing to help me in my time of need. It seems like even though I go through hard times The Lord always seems to help me through. Everyone needs a hand up sometimes and I want to thank each and every person who has helped me out through this time in my life. Sincerely, Rosie Parker
After My Employer Cut Overtime & After My Car Broke Down, I Need Help Keeping Our Home!
My Story:
I'm 41 years old, and I'm a single mother. I'm raising my son on my own after divorcing his father, who is now incarcerated. His father isn't a part of the picture, and that's difficult for us both, but my son and I have learned to fend for ourselves. He's 17 years old, and he loves video games and anime. As for myself, I like to paint and do yoga in my free time, and I'm planning to return to school to get a degree in Art History. Currently, I'm working full-time for a landscaping company as a contract administrator.
The hardship that we're currently facing is three-fold. First, my employer decided to eliminate overtime, and that's cut into my income. I was working about 50 to 55 hours per week, and everything over 40 hours was my base pay and half of that as well. Recently, I've been limited to 40 hours, and my paychecks are about $200 to $250 less per period. In addition to that, my landlord decided to raise my rent by about $200 per month. Now, I'm making less money and paying more for my rent. When you factor that increase in with the rising cost of food and gas, our financial situation has become unbearable, and we're living entirely from paycheck to paycheck now. Finally, my car just broke down, and I had to replace the clutch in it and replace the tires. That cost me almost our entire savings and my most recent paycheck, so I'm not going to be able to pay rent this month.
Without the overtime hours I'm used to getting and with the economy worsening by the week, I'm struggling to come up with what I owe on my rent this month. Normally, I could rely on some kind of savings that I had built up, but that was eaten up by the car repairs I had to get done. I'm worried that were going to lose our home as a result of this situation, so I'm very humbly asking for assistance with our rent for this month. We would be very appreciative of all of the people who lend us a hand with keeping our home, and I promise that I will find a way to pay this forward.
