I've Been In & Out of Work for Years Now. I Finally Found a Job but Need Help Moving Please!
My Story:
I am an outgoing, hardworking and gregarious individual, and I've always loved life and approached everything with curiosity. Ever since I was a child cooking with my mother and walking in the garden, I've taken an interest in so many hobbies and skills; however, two things in particular have always captivated me, cameras and photography. I always wanted to be a news cameraman, and after getting my degree in mass communications from VCU in Richmond, Virginia, I got my first job in Albuquerque, New Mexico. That was 20 years ago. Since then, I have traversed the west coast from San Diego to San Francisco, and then to Seattle to work.
I love the work that I do, and I'm very passionate about it. In fact, I even started teaching journalism to grade school kids for a while. Those 3rd grade students were as sweet as could be, but they were also as sharp as a tack and could take over your job with ease! At the time I was working full-time and teaching too, but I didn't mind because I loved what I did. However, I couldn't anticipate what would come after I decided to move jobs.
I decided to move from San Diego to work as a news cameraman in San Francisco and little did I know, but that decision would turn out to be financially devastating. My station laid me off in February of 2021, and I desperately tried to find the same job in the same market. I applied for unemployment benefits while I searched, but it turned out that someone had stolen my identity and filed benefits on my claim. There was nothing I could do to get any kind of income, so I moved to Seattle to start a new job. Four months later, I was laid-off again, and it felt like my life was falling apart.
My luck has finally started to turn though, and I landed a new job after an old newsroom manager reached out to me. The only problem is that it's all the way in Los Angeles, and I haven't had a steady income for about six months now. I don't have the means to move on my own, but this is the first opportunity I've had for steady work in a long time, and if I can make this move happen, I'll be able to get back on my feet again. With that said, I'm very humbly seeking assistance with a phone bill so that I can stay in touch with my new job and with the cost of renting a U-Haul so that I can make this move happen.
This assistance would be the single most important and miraculous gesture I will have ever received. I miss working, I miss being able to take care of necessities, my camerawork, and I miss having a productive and responsible life. This gesture would be so much more than a band aid; it would give me a purpose and stability that I haven't had for a long time.
