I Was Out of Work Battling Cancer, but When I Returned My Contract Ended. Please Help Me Catch Up!

My Story:

I recently overcame a struggle against Colon Cancer, and in addition to being a cancer survivor, I'm a mother. Both of my children are adults, and they're off living their own lives and no longer live with me. Still, I try to see them regularly, but that was difficult to do while I was battling cancer and while my health was poor.

I was diagnosed last summer, and I had surgery to remove the cancer in September of 2021. Shortly after my surgery, I began chemotherapy, and after recovering from that, I returned to work in January. I work as an independent contractor and just a month after I returned to work, my contract with my employer ended. So after being out of work with little to no pay for months, I'm unemployed again. After losing my contract, I filed for unemployment, but I'm still waiting for a determination, and it's already been months. I've run out of my savings, and I've had to file for forbearance with my mortgage. I'm behind on a lot of my other bills, and I can't afford to keep up with those while I'm waiting for my unemployment benefits to arrive, that is, if they ever do. Currently, I'm behind on my car payment, my electric bill, and my pest control bill, so I'm seeking assistance with those three bills please.

I've been able to work hard for most of my life to remain independent, but the cancer diagnosis and the struggles I've faced after that have really humbled me. There's nothing that I want more than to be able to return to work and get back to a point where I'm self-sufficient again, but I know that if I'm going to do that, then I'm going to need help. After struggling for months with my health and employment, this short-term assistance would be truly appreciated, and I would be very grateful to everyone who gives me a chance to get back on my feet again. With this assistance, I'll be able to start looking ahead again, and when I find work, I promise that I will repay the kindness and generosity that I've been shown.
