I Need to Be Home with My Daughter for the Sake of Her Health. Please Help Us Keep Our Lights on!
My Story:
I am a single mom with a 17-year-old daughter who is still living at home with me. We do everything together! She is on a school softball team and also plays on a select team as well. Her coaches are wonderful people and they've granted scholarships in order for her to play each season because otherwise, we'd have trouble affording it. I work for Amazon as a trainer and have started to go back to school to obtain my degree in mental health and substance abuse counseling.
A couple months ago, my daughter approached me saying she was feeling depressed and having horrible thoughts. We began one on one counseling for her, and things seemed to be getting better, but in April, things took a turn for the worse. She was taken to the hospital and placed in a PHP program for 10 days, and now, she's seeing a therapist and psychiatrist weekly. I have had to take an unpaid leave of absence from work in order to care for her and make sure she is not left alone. During this time, I have been unable to cover all of our bills and have been paying just a small amount on all of our utilities to keep them switched on. As time goes on, I haven't been able to pay any of our utilities in full, and now it's reached the point where they're going to be shut-off if I can't come up with what I owe very soon.
I'm planning on returning to work soon, but I'm humbly asking for assistance with our utility bills in the meantime. My main focus is on taking care of my daughter and her mental health, and this assistance would allow me to do that without having to worry about whether or not we're going to have power and running water. For my daughter's sake, I can't afford to rush back to work and leave her alone, but I also have to keep our lights on. With that said, this generous support would allow me to both care for my daughter and keep our power and water on, and for that, I would be truly thankful. I've always known that mental health is very serious, but over the past few months, I've learned that it's really just as serious as your physical health too. So, I want to end this by encouraging anyone who is struggling with their mental health or anyone who knows someone else who is struggling with theirs to reach out and seek help. The world is a difficult place, but it feels a little bit easier when we look out for one another.
