My Kids & I Are Domestic Abuse Survivors. Please Help Us Keep Our Car on the Road!

My Story:

I'm a domestic violence survivor, and I'm a single mother of two children. We suffered two instances of domestic violence at the hands of my children's father during the pandemic, and after that, I decided that it was time for me to take the children and find a better, safer life for them. Since then, I've been trying to give my kids a better life. Even if I can't take away the pain they've experienced, I can at least pave the way to a better life for them so that they never have to experience anything like that again.

I have always worked hard to take care of my family, but late last year, I lost the job that I had been at prior to the pandemic. They had to make cutbacks, so I was laid-off in December of 2021. I was able to go back to work eventually, and I found a new job in March, but that position fell through at the last minute. They had given me clearance to start working and everything, but then they cancelled the position. So, I went back to the drawing board, and I've finally found work again that I will be starting in a week or two. However, after being out of work for almost six months, I've burned through all of our savings, and I'm behind on all of our bills aside from rent and our essential utilities. Our phone bill, our internet bill, and our car insurance bill are all behind, and even when I start my new job, I won't be able to catch up in time to cover them before they lapse and I lose service and coverage.

Losing my car insurance is what I worry about the most because I rely on my vehicle for almost everything. I don't feel safe without it, and I can't use public transportation due to circumstance regarding the abuse my children and I suffered. Being around large crowds of people almost always results in me having a panic attack. Keeping our internet and phone service is also very important to us because my children need the internet to complete their schoolwork, and I need my phone to stay in touch with my new job. My goal is to move myself and my children away from the area where the attacks we've experienced happened, and this assistance would put us one step closer to that goal. Despite everything that we've been through and the difficulties we're currently facing, I know that this kind assistance would finally give my children and I an opportunity to move ahead with our lives, and for that, we would be very grateful to all of the people who lend us a hand with these three bills.
