This person has left the following thank you note:

Dear Kind Individual´┐Żs, Your kind gift to Modest Needs is greatly appreciated, and we are thankful to you for it. We cannot express how grateful we are to have the help of individuals such as yourselves. Because of the money that you have provided us, we have been able to use it to pay our regular monthly utility bills as well as to cover the costs of our weekly grocery shopping. You are the one who actually makes a difference for us, and because of that, we will never be able to thank you enough. Sincerely, Graciela Ortega

I'm Struggling with Lupus & Need Help Keeping Our Lights on Please!

My Story:

I am a single mother to a 12-year-old with Autism. My 72 year old mother lives with me I take care of her after she lost my father. My lovely boy likes to run, play at the park. He is really loving, and he loves to give hugs all day long. My mother loves to do hair styles on her mannequin head doll I bought her some years back.

I have been working at the same job for eight years, but I recently had to take an extended leave of absence because of complications I've been having with lupus. My company said they can no longer accommodate me without a doctor's note, so that's led to me having to regularly go to my doctor whenever I have a flare up, and that can be very expensive. I also get injections for rheumatoid arthritis, and that's been difficult to afford lately too. All in all, I haven't been able to work the hours that I used to due to my health, and I'm starting to fall behind as a result. I've gone from working full-time hours to working part-time hours. I'm lucky if I get anywhere from 15 to 25 hours per week now, and that's just not enough for me to keep up with everything.

Currently, I'm behind on my electric and internet bills, and I need help catching up before I lose both services. I've been trying to get assistance from the state, but my income doesn't qualify me for benefits, and I'm also still waiting for a determination on SSI benefits. I can't afford to wait for that determination because if anything does come from it, it will be too little too late, and I'll already be in the dark. With that said I would be very grateful to everyone who lends us a hand with our electric and internet bill. This would allow us to stay on our feet, and I'll be able to focus on taking care of my family.
