I Work Full-Time as a Nurse, but I Lost Work While Sick with COVID. Please Help Keep Our Lights On!

My Story:

I'm a single mother, and I have two amazing daughters. My youngest is 15 years old, and she struggles with narcolepsy and cataplexy. She's doing her best to get through school, and I'm really proud of how hard she's working in spite of the adversity she faces day to day. My oldest daughter is full of energy and life, and she's always been so helpful and supportive of me and her younger sister. She's looking to start school right now in order to become a phlebotomist. As for myself, I work full-time as a pediatrics nurse for an urgent care center, but I recently transferred to a hospital in Dallas.

In January, I caught COVID and became extremely ill as a result. I'm immunocompromised, so it was really dangerous for me, as my condition was exacerbated by COVID. I was in the hospital for a long-time after developing scar tissue in my lungs, and I was out of work for almost a month without pay. On top of missing a month of work, the cost of living in our city, Austin, has risen so much in the past year that it's impossible for us to live here anymore. Everything from rent to our grocery bill has gotten more expensive, so we've decided to relocate. However, after being out of work for a month, I'm behind on a few of our bills and need help catching up if we're going to be able to move without going into debt or worse.

I'm seeking assistance with our electric bill because its far past due, and I can't afford to get it caught up while also trying to relocate. Not only would this assistance keep our lights on, but it would allow us to relocate and find stable footing for us to build from for the foreseeable future. I can start my new job at the hospital I transferred to, we can be closer to our family for support, and my daughter can start her schooling in phlebotomy. This would truly help get us back on our feet, and for that, I would be very grateful. Thank you all in advance for your generosity and kindness. My family and I have already been thinking of ways to repay this assistance.
