After a Hit & Run Accident, We Fell Behind on Our Utilities & Need Help Before They're Shut Off!

My Story:

I am a mother and sole provider of four beautiful children ages 13, 12, 11 and 8 years old. My daughters, ages 13 and 12 years old, are currently in middle school and enjoy volleyball, softball and competing on the debate team. My son, age 11, loves wrestling and is a huge basketball fan. My youngest daughter is 8 years old and has Down Syndrome. She is such a joy to everyone she meets, and she enjoys dancing, learning, and playing dress-up! I am a full-time Crisis and Trauma Support Trainer at a local children's hospital. I live a truly blessed life, and I'm so grateful to have my children and to have the opportunity to provide support and care to my patients. Through the pandemic, I have fought hard for my patients, and while it's been difficult, I'm proud to have been able to serve my community.

In September of last year, I was the victim of a hit and run accident. No one has been held accountable for the damage to my vehicle, and while my insurance has agreed to help cover some of the damage, I have been unable to find a reliable mechanic. In fact, the first mechanic I brought my vehicle to didn't fix my vehicle fully, and he never returned my deposit of about $1,700 either. I'm still trying to work that situation out, but I still don't have a working vehicle, and it's been months since the wreck. I can't even get my children to and from school regularly, and I've struggled to get to work. I'm working on finding a new vehicle, but until then, we desperately need help because we're about to have our gas and electricity shut-off.

We're past due on both our electric and gas bills, and we're just a matter of days from having both services turned off. My family is already in a very difficult situation because of the hit and run incident but losing our power and gas would put us in an even more desperate situation. I'm already struggling to hold everything together, so I don't know what I'll do if we lose our utilities. For that reason, I would be deeply humbled and appreciative of the assistance that we receive with these two bills. As a mother, the mental anguish of not being able to provide for my family has been unbearable, so I promise to pay the generosity we're shown forward to another mother who is in the same position we're in.
