Many thanks to all of you for helping me in my time of need. Medical issues like mine are always difficult to bear when major costs are involved and necessary to help relieve the pain and the suffering. In my case expensive shots for both knees will hopefully allow for much more normal walking and standing, and I am very grateful that you have decided to generously provide the support when most other options had quickly disappeared. This will also help relieve the burdens that my handicap has placed on my family, and I am also keenly aware how giving to others during these inflationary times is even more difficult. I Can't Walk without Excruciating Pain. Please Help Me Afford Treatment!
My Story:
My wife and I are in our 70s, and we live mostly on social security, but my wife also works as an administrative assistant at a local school and receives a salary for that. She's been doing that for almost 20 years now, and her income helps us take care of a lot of our miscellaneous expenses that fall outside of the budget we've set for ourselves while living on a fixed budget. Most of those expenses are with our home and medical expenses. Our home is 40 years old and has needed a lot of repairs lately, and then on top of that we have two dental surgeries that we're still paying off.
Recently it feels like those miscellaneous expenses have started to overtake us financially. In addition to the home repairs and dental work, I have been having knee issues and have also recently been diagnosed with macular degeneration. I also struggle with diabetes, but I've been able to keep that under control by exercising for three days a week to fend of neuropathy in my feet. The real problem we've been dealing with in terms of our finances has been with the injections that I need to treat my macular degeneration. We had hoped that our Medicare could cover this, but even with partial coverage, the co-pays have been far too expensive for us to afford on our own. Now, it looks like I'm going to need Euflexxa injections in my knees in order to ward off neuropathy and arthritic pain. On top of our other medical expenses and home repairs, we just can't afford those injections, so I'm very humbly asking for assistance with affording the Euflexxa shots for my knees.
Simply put, this assistance would allow me to walk without excruciating pain and discomfort in my legs. Personally, this assistance will allow me to regain the mobility that has prohibited me from enjoying the activities that I love. Senior trips with the YMCA are always limiting because of the walking and standing. Walking without holding on or using my walker have prohibited everyday activity like getting in and out of cars, shopping, or even just doing minor home repairs. I am even hopeful that I might be able to run again thanks to this assistance. Your support would be truly life changing, and I promise that I will do my best to pay it forward when I have the opportunity to again.
