I Lost My Mother. Then, I Lost My Daughter. Now, I'm On the Verge of Losing My Home!

My Story:

I'm 25 years old, and while I'm young, I have experienced a lot of tragedy and adversity already. I'm a survivor of stillbirth, having tragically lost my baby at 8 months pregnant when she was born without a heartbeat. Just two months prior, I lost my mother. I'm a domestic violence survivor, having escaped an abusive relationship prior to losing my mother and daughter. Now, I've found myself taking care of my 13-year-old niece after my mother passed away. It's a difficult job, but I really love her, and she's the reason I still get up in the morning. Despite the trauma and adversity that I've dealt with, I remain hopeful because I know that God is good and that He watches over me and my niece!

After I graduated college, I was very stable, but losing my daughter to stillbirth really turned my world upside down. At six months pregnant, I was working a stable job and doing well for myself. I was planning a future for my daughter, but then my mother passed away, and when I requested a leave of absence to grieve her loss, my employer denied my request. I was six months pregnant and my mother had just passed, it was shocking that they denied my request, and I decided that if they were going to treat me like that when I was vulnerable, then it wasn't the right place for me to giving my blood, sweat, and tears to. After quitting, I quickly found a new job, but then I tragically lost my daughter. Shortly after that, I caught COVID and was out for another three weeks. When I returned my entire department, including myself, was furloughed shortly after that. I'm seeking a new position while waiting to return to work, but I haven't been able to find anything yet. I haven't been earning a consistent income for months, and now, I'm behind on our rent and facing an eviction.

After everything I've been through, losing my home would be a devastating blow. I don't know where my niece and I would go because we don't have any family left that we can rely on. Without help with our rent, we will truly be lost. With that said, I would be deeply grateful and relieved to receive this assistance and know that my niece and I will have a place to live in as we work to recover from the trials we've faced. Thank you all for showing us much-needed compassion and grace. I will never forget this.
