I'm in Danger Of Losing My Home After Exhausting My Sick-Leave. Please Help!
My Story:
I live on my own, and I've always worked hard to support myself. However, the pandemic has made it especially difficult to keep working, and I've lost a lot of hours and days of work due to COVID. In fact, I've been in quarantine three times during the pandemic, and I contracted COVID fairly early on, before there was a vaccine, and have lasting symptoms. People at my job never took wearing a mask or social distancing very seriously, so we've had a lot of COVID outbreaks at work, and that's made getting a consistent paycheck very difficult.
I have used up all of my annual leave at this point dealing with COVID related quarantines and health issues. Unfortunately, I had to take some time off of work recently, and without any more leave, I wasn't paid for that time off. My paycheck is a lot less than it usually is, and as someone that lives paycheck to paycheck, that has made it very difficult for me to keep up with my monthly expenses. As a result of the unpaid time off I had to take, I've fallen behind on my rent and need help catching up if I'm going to be able to keep my home.
This is the first time I've ever been behind on my rent, and I'm very worried that I could lose my home. It's been difficult to find assistance, but for the first time in weeks, I finally feel like I truly have a chance to get back on my feet again. I've found better ways to manage the lingering side effects of COVID, and that will hopefully allow me to keep my hours more consistent at work. I know that with this help, I can make it through this short-term crisis and keep my home for the foreseeable future. I would be deeply grateful for this support with my rent, and I want to say thank you in advance to all of the kind and generous people who lend me a hand. I will never forget the assistance I receive.
