My Partner Suffered a Stroke, & I've Been Out of Work Caring For Her. Please Help Us Keep Our Home!

My Story:

I'm the father of one amazing daughter who is mine and my partner's entire world. Our daughter is 5 years old, extremely energetic, and she loves playing basketball and even goes to camp for it. We do our best to make sure she has everything that she needs, and we both work full-time to do so, or at least we did until recently. I work as the manager for one of our local Duane Reades, and my partner was working for the board of elections until a medical emergency forced her to take a leave of absence.

Late last year, my partner suffered a stroke due to a partial tear in a blood vessel in her neck. It was a truly harrowing experience, and she spent a ton of time in the hospital. Overall, she's been out of work since then and will be for the foreseeable future, and I've also been out of work caring for her for the past four months. During that time, I haven't been getting a full paycheck, we've run through our savings, and now we're significantly behind on our rent. We've started receiving notice form our landlord that they're going to take legal action against us if we don't come up with the rent that we owe soon. I'm worried that my family and I will be forced out onto the streets if we can't catch up soon, so I'm very humbly asking for assistance with our rent.

My partner is still very sick, and our child is only 5 years old. I'm terrified of what will happen to them if we're forced out of our home. We don't have anywhere to go, so we'd have to check into a shelter or sleep in our car, and neither of those are tenable options for my family. With that said, this assistance would allow us to get caught up as I look to get back to work. My partner's health is improving, and I'll be able to return to my job soon, but until then we need assistance. We would be very appreciative of all of the kind and generous people who come together to lend us a hand with our rent, and I promise we will do our best to pay this support forward.
