I just wanted to say thank you so much if not for yall donations. We really appreciate this without your help we would be homeless. It's hard enough having cancer and worrying about bills and the stress of just everyday life combined with the not knowing of our home situation. I truly appreciate all the kindness and taking time to donate to me and my boyfriend our hearts are truly full. Thank you Misty Snow
I Was Diagnosed with Cancer, Our Landlord Sold Our Home, & Now, We're Struggling to Keep Our Car!
My Story:
I'm 44 years old, and I live with my soul mate, best friend, and caregiver, my boyfriend, Robert. He's a combat veteran who served in Desert Storm and in Afghanistan. He's a wonderful man who has been there for me through everything I've gone through in the past year. I also have a wonderful daughter who is 22 years old and on her own life journey. I'm very proud of her.
I've worked for the same company since 2016 and have never missed a day of work with them until recently. After a long period of feeling very ill, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Originally, I had been diagnosed with mastitis, but thankfully, I got a second opinion and they discovered it was actually cancer. Without that second opinion, I wouldn't be here today. I started chemotherapy in November of 2021 and have been receiving continuous treatment since then. It's been a difficult battle, and I'm constantly weak and in pain due to the chemo, but still, I'm determined to push ahead and beat this disease. I'm still able to work about 20 hours per week, but even that is difficult to manage most of the time. Robert also does not work, and right now, we're living primarily off of his retirement and VA income. Combined with my reduced paychecks, those have been just enough to sustain us until recently.
The other day our landlord informed us that he was selling our home and that we would have to move out. This news hit us like a ton of bricks because with all of the expenses from my chemotherapy and the reduced income that we're working with, we don't have any way to move and continue to keep up with our other monthly bills. In fact, we're currently behind on our car payment and are on the verge of losing our car. We're now in a position where we have to choose between keeping our only vehicle or finding a new home, so we're very humbly asking for assistance with keeping our car please.
This extremely generous assistance would prevent us from having to choose between our car and a home, and more than that, it will allow me to focus on my battle with cancer. Honestly, it's difficult for me to focus on my health with all of these financial burdens and the potential of becoming homeless looming over me. With that being said, your support would potentially be lifesaving, and for that I would be eternally grateful. I promise that I will do my best to pay this assistance forward in the very near future.
