My Husband Has Been in & out of the Hospital All Year, & We Need Help Keeping Our Home!
My Story:
I am a caregiver and dedicated spouse to my husband. We live with our two dogs who we love and cherish. I work full-time at a job an hour away, and I work to support those with disabilities of all kinds and help to allow them to obtain the quality of life they deserve. When I am not working, I am spending time with my family, volunteering at Notre Dame with special needs families, singing on my church worship team, active with children's ministries, or picking my grandson up for a night at our house.
My husband has several chronic conditions that have cause him some severe issues this past year after he contracted COVID in January. He already had Pulmonary Hypertension, Liver Cancer, Anemia, Low Platelets, and other diseases, but then, when he contracted COVID, he had severe internal bleeding. He had to have 41 blood transfusions, has ongoing iron transfusions, and has also had 13 platelet transfusions. After four hospital stays, multiple ER visits, and one helicopter ride via the ER to the University of Michigan hospital, we are slowly getting him back to full health. He's going to get his COVID vaccine booster soon, and we're hoping that he'll be well protected and in better health after that. However, we're having a difficult time of keeping up with all of our bills because of the treatments and loss of work my husband has gone through as a result of his health. We're behind on our mortgage, and I'm worried we could eventually lose our home.
With my husband's health at stake, I'm humbly asking for assistance with our mortgage. As someone with chronic illnesses, my husband needs to keep a roof over his head in order to remain in good health. In the short-term, this assistance would buy him the time that he needs to recover from a year of hardship, and in the long-term, we'll be able to finally get back on our feet and keep our home. We'll go into the holidays with hearts full of gratitude for everyone who took the time to read our story and for the unforgettable people who help us through this hardship.
