I Broke My Wrist & Need Help with the Medical Bill Please!

My Story:

I'm a single woman in my sixties. I have a degree in Horticulture, and I grow orchids on my enclosed patio. Some of my orchids are well over ten years old and still bloom! I also have an orange tree and multiple other plants. I have a dog and two cats, and they keep me very busy, but I love them all so much!

I have been working as a case investigator for a Public Health agency since the pandemic has started. You could say I wanted to be part of the solution instead of part of the problem. It has been the first decent paying job I have had in about 5 years, honestly. However, being a contract worker at first, I didn't have health insurance. Beginning in January of this year, we did start receiving health insurance, albeit it wasn't very good and had a high deductible. On July 11, 2021, I was working in my condo and had taken all my plants out because I needed to clean the windows. While working, I stepped on a canvas camping chair on the floor, and I lost my footing and fell. To try and stop the fall, I put my hand out and landed on it. When I got up, I was in immense pain. In fact, the pain was so bad I knew I couldn't wait until Monday morning to see my PCP. My neighbor drove me to the ER because I couldn't drive. X-Ray confirmed I had broken my wrist, and I also chipped a bone. The ER doctor told me I needed to see an orthopedic surgeon because the break looked like it need to have surgery to be set correctly. The orthopedic surgeon confirmed that I need surgery immediately. I needed a plate and pins so the break would heal correctly. Because my insurance is so poor, I have huge medical bills to pay out of pocket that I can't afford. So, I'm humbly asking for assistance with paying these medical bills before they go to collections.

I'm worried that these medical bills will lead to my wages being garnished or that I'll be denied care as I work on rehabbing from this injury. I'm having a hard time sleeping at night, and there are some weeks I can barely feed myself. Getting this assistance would be a huge relief for me, and it will keep me financially stable as I work to recover from breaking my wrist. I will never forget the people who help me with this medical bill, and I would like to thank you all in advance for your compassion and kindness.
