I Took Custody of My Nephew & Lost Hours to COVID! Please Help Us Keep Our Home.
My Story:
I'm a single mother raising two children at home. My oldest is 18 years old and has left for college recently. It's hard without him, but I'm extremely proud of him for pursuing his education. The other child in my care is my nephew who I took in after his parents were deemed unfit to care for him. He has a lot of issues that we're doing our best to work through, but he's a good kid who's just had a hard life. I work hard to provide for them both by working full-time as a local trucker.
Even though I've managed to keep working through the pandemic, my hours have been cut down by about 35%. I've barely been able to keep us afloat through that loss of hours because my son was also working, and then helping out where he could when he lost his job and was receiving unemployment. However, since he's gone off to college, he's no longer able to help out. Normally, I'd be able to manage without him having to chip in, but after taking in my nephew my expenses have really spiked. His parents struggle with addiction and can't care for him, and as a result, he also needs a lot of special attention and care. I've tried to get him the help he needs, and sometimes, I have to go without to make sure he's taken care of. All of these different factors have combined to make our financial situation impossible to deal with. I'm doing my best to try to keep up with all of our bills, but we recently fell behind on our rent, and we need urgent help if we're going to keep our home.
Right now, it feels like we're just drowning in our financial situation, and it seems like things just keep piling on to make it worse too. I recently discovered that my nephew is going need relatively expensive medication, and I also want to be able to help my son pay for some of his school expenses as well. However, my biggest concern right now is being able to keep our home because if we lose that, then everything else will fall apart. I would feel truly humbled and blessed to receive assistance with our rent, and I promise that my family will never forget this. Your generosity would give my family the long-term stability that we need to ensure that both my son and my nephew are able to live successful and fulfilling lives. As a mother, I want nothing more than that and would like to say 'thank you' to everyone who lends us their support.
