User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeWe want to share our gratitude for considering our need for Dylan to get at home ABA therapy materials. We have been trying to work with him on our own for the last month while waiting to hear if we would qualify for a donation. We are all very anxious to try something that has been proven to give results and we hope that working together as a family we can get Dylan back into a regular class in the next few months. We all felt very special to know that there are people who care enough to support strangers - We hope that one day we can pay it forward when we are financially in a better position. Thank you again for finding it in your heart to help our son - We pray blessings to you and yours. With Love, Rob, Amber, Meg and Dylan

We Need Help Affording ABA Therapy for Our Special Needs Son Please!

My Story:

I am a married wife of two children. I work as a bill clerk, and my husband is a landscaper. We have a daughter who is 11 years old and enjoys music and crafts. We also have a son, Dylan, who is 9 years old, is autistic, and who loves to play Legos and do outdoor activities. We also support a child from my husband's first relationship who lives long distance and who is also 11 years old. We both work full-time and try to provide the best, most stable home environment possible for our children. We've known Dylan was unique since he was 2 years old, but we didn't realize how much additional attention and care he would need as time went on, and sometimes it can be a struggle financially for us to keep up with his needs. Nevertheless, we do our best to make sure he has everything he needs to be successful. We're very close and happy family, and when my husband and I aren't working we're at home with the kids watching moves or going on short trips to local parks.

While we earn enough to pay our regular expenses, we recently found out that our son needs regular ABA therapy. We've tried to work through our insurance to get his therapy covered, but they don't cover this type of service. In addition to that we went to a private company to get a quote and they told us it would be $12,000 for six months of treatments, and we can't even come close to being able to afford that if we want to be able to afford our regular monthly bills. At the same time, we know our son's development is crucial, and we know that we have to do something. So, we decided that the best way forward would be for us to purchase some recommended parenting materials and therapy equipment so that we can do our best to help our son at home for a more affordable price. However, even though these materials are less expensive than the private company, they're still too expensive for us to purchase on our own if we don't want to fall behind on our rent. For that reason, we're humbly asking for assistance with purchasing these ABA materials for our son.

I'm worried that if we don't get our son some type of assistance, then his behavior and development will worse, forcing us to seek more serious interventions down the line. However, I know that if we can step in now and get him the help and support that he needs, it'll lead to a better future and a better life for him. With that being said, we would be so grateful to everyone who helps us get the materials that we need to help our son. You will leave a long-lasting impact on his life, and as a mother, there's truly nothing that would mean more to me. Thank you so much for this assistance.
