My Son Struggles with a Heart Condition that Has Caused Me to Miss Work! Please Help.
My Story:
I'm a single mother raising two boys on my own. My oldest is 10 years old and is my brilliant bookworm, and my youngest is 2 years old and is my miracle baby. My 2-year-old was born with congenital heart disease as well as other health complications that required immediate surgery. He's had two open heart surgeries already and will undergo a third next year. He's a very resilient child and has been doing a lot better now; however, he does have some developmental delays that he needs different therapies to overcome.
My younger son's health problems have taken a huge toll on us financially, and it's been especially difficult to deal with that through COVID. He has special needs for his daycare because he can't be in large groups of people, and that was even before the pandemic. Insurance handles some of the costs of his care, and I'm thankful for that and for the job that I've been at for four years, but we do have to go without during the pandemic when I can't find a sitter or place my son in a daycare. I've used up almost all of my PTO, and we're behind on some of our bills and need help to stay afloat.
We're behind on our phone bill by a few months now, and I can't afford to keep going without paying it in order to keep up with our other bills. If we lose access to our phone, then it could have an impact on my ability to work, but even beyond that, it could make it difficult to find my son a sitter, daycare, or even healthcare in general when he needs it. Our phone bill is essential, but so is keeping a roof over our heads and paying for my son's daycare. We're stuck in a difficult place and need a way out with this generous assistance. I want to just say 'thank you in advance' to everyone who gives us an opportunity to get back on our feet and to everyone who helps me give my sons a better future. We will never forget this.
