This person has left the following thank you note:
I did not expect this! I'm so grateful to everyone who pitched in during this very difficult time. Out of desperation, I applied for any and all assistance programs I could find. I was so shocked when I got that email! My car was repossessed and I was able to get it out with help from my parents. I hated to have to ask them as they are in their 80's and have their own issues. I had no choice, no car, no work. I am so thankful they are still with us but I cannot depend on them to get me out of a situation. Fortunately, I was able to get back to work but the hours just aren't there yet. The facility where my mother is has gone back on lockdown for their safety, but it just means we don't have any contact with her and she's not doing well with dementia. Sorry for going on but I am just so thankful to everyone and I promise to give back to Modest Needs whenever I can, it only takes a little from everyone to help a lot! Bless all of you!
After Being Forced Out of Our Home, Downsizing, & Losing Work to COVID, I Need Help with Rent!
My Story:
I'm a single, 55-year-old man, and I live with my pug, Otis. We recently had to downsize to an apartment after being forced to move out of our home that I had rented for eight years. A real estate investor came in and bought the property, and then, they decided to raise the rent by $200. Needless to say, I just couldn't afford to live there anymore, so we had no choice but to downsize. Otis really misses our big yard, and I miss doing yard work and gardening.
I lost my job when the pandemic began, and when my unemployment benefits ended in early June, I fell behind on my bills. I've recently started a new job working for Instacart, but it's only part-time for the time being. I'm hoping to work hard and get a promotion, but it'll take time to be able to do that. In the meantime, I'm hoping to get assistance with paying my rent so that I can hold on to my home.
Getting assistance with my rent will allow me to stay in my home, but just as importantly, it will free up some of my income to go towards my car payment. That bill is also currently overdue, and my car is just as important to my rent because it's how I earn a living. So, this assistance would kill two bills with one stone, so to speak, and it would tide me over until I can secure a promotion or even another job. I've already interviewed for a management position and am just waiting to hear back, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that works out! I would feel so relieved to get this help because I'll be able to keep my home, keep my car, and focus on my job without the fear of eviction looming over me. I know that with some breathing room, I'll make it through this with a brighter future in front of me. I couldn't be more thankful to everyone who helps me get through this rough patch, and I want to promise to pay it forward when I can. Thank you!
