I'm Trying to Catch Up After Taking Maternity Leave, but We're Still On the Brink of Eviction!
My Story:
I'm a single mother raising two beautiful boys, a 4-year-old and a 5-month-old. My oldest was diagnosed with autism and is a truly unique and exceptional young child. He has the brightest spirit you could imagine, and he's always just so kind and happy; he's always able to bring me back up when I'm a little down. My other son is also a very happy baby, and he's growing so much every single day. Motherhood has been such a rewarding and wonderful journey, and I truly couldn't be more thankful for my two boys. They've completely changed my life and have made me who I am today.
I typically make enough income from my job in customer service to provide for my sons and I, but we do tend to live paycheck to paycheck. When my son was born 5 months ago, I had to take an unpaid maternity leave, and since then, I've had a difficult time keeping up with all of our bills. I also had to take time off after the boys and I became extremely ill too. We've hit the point where we could very easily lose our home without help.
I've run out of savings and have had to go as far as over-drafting my account in order to pay for all of our basic expenses. Even after doing that, we're behind on our rent, and we need help in order to catch up. We're not protected by the eviction moratorium because this isn't a COVID-related hardship, so if we can't get caught up soon, our landlord will force us out. That's why I've decided to humble myself and ask for help with our rent.
If we can just make it through this rough patch with this one-time assistance, then I'll be able to provide a stable foundation for my two children to grow from going forward. As a mother, there's nothing in this world that I want more than to be able to provide for my kids so that they can succeed. For your help with that, I couldn't be more appreciative. Thank you all for your kindness and for helping us keep our home.
